A tweet a day: Steve McCurry

The image taken in 1983 by Steve McCurry. It has a very strong national geographic feel to it with its vivid colors. I love the feel of business as usual. I would say it’s in Bangladesh monsoon season. Other than cloud the lack of detail in the background gives it a day after the apocalypse feel. in this country we would moan and watch 24hr sky news coverage. The people are probably travailing to work. the other thing that caught my was the two-tone feel the images has. it’s almost one half is black and white and the other is color. set off by the neutral tones of the left and the bright orange on the right

I am a visual artist and poet who works within the context of fine art. My work is grounded in documentary, exploring the inner beauty of everyday life through various lens based media. Notions of nostalgia and social commentary are present, but from a definite northern working class perspective. Instinctively I exploring the townscapes of North Wales and the North West, often producing work that reflects the every day minutiae of life.
